Six stages for turning curiosity into useful products and businesses that can endure.
HPL’s approach begins with a problem worth understanding. Our six stages guide the work from an initial question to a business that can keep contributing over time. Learning can take us back to an earlier stage, and some ideas will not move forward.
We listen to the people facing a challenge and ask what would make their lives easier. Together with collaborators, we explore possible solutions, define who they would serve, and consider how a useful product could support a sustainable business.
We turn the idea into a working product, with Studio Xlpha supporting technology development. We test, invite feedback, and examine whether it solves the intended problem. What we learn may lead us to improve the product, rethink the approach, or stop.
When there is a credible path forward, we work to reach more people and strengthen the business behind the product. We keep improving and develop the knowledge and leadership needed to carry the work forward.
Building together and remaining involved for the long term are central possibilities. Investment, shared ownership, or a full ownership transfer may also support a venture’s future. Each choice should serve the business and the people who depend on it.
Our aim is to leave things better than we found them and create work that others can continue to develop long after its original builders are gone.
